i would suggest... just to make the server a little longer lasting, that portals be either removed, or opened some 12 hours far. this creates locality. people get over strong can terrorize their local neighbourhood, and cant control a whole server, it will take them a lot longer to manage to control *other* strongholds that are further away. with these portals, one overpowered clan can kill any clan it can open a portal to. but if the portal opens 12 hours away, with a limit of say... it lasts 24 or 48 hours, and cant be opened again to same clan for a week, this should make planning and survivability a lot better. i believe stable's survival goes mostly to the lack of portals, even if it got boring eventually, but hell, it lasted more than a year before becoming so.

Good idea, but 12 hours is a bit long and stable like, maybe 6 hours?
I'm for a reset, recognizing that a repeat is most likely to occur. When it occurs again, declare a winner and reset again. Rinse, repeat until something is in place to actually fix the problem.
In speed's case, I think a good bit of the problem is portals. Portals make it almost impossible to react defensively against anyone larger. Go offline for more than an hour, and you could be attacked with the aggressors troops already home before you know it. And face it, how often do you get launched on while your online? At least Double the portals distance (100 instead of 50), and limit it to the village that it targets, not the entire clans. Maybe allow the clans to transverse it if it shortens the overall distance, but not a flat 50L between all villages associated with either clan. (that may or may not be interpretable).
yes, when portals first were mentioned, i assumed that they would be relative to target. for instance, if it opens to someone, it opens some distance, say 200 leagues from him. if the portal opener wanted to attack a clanmate of the target (or could be made anyone else, not necessarily a clanmate), then the distance would be 200 leagues+distance from portal target to attack target.
so if waltang opens a portal to me, he's 200 L from me. if ishtar is 20 leagues far from me, waltang is 220L from her. not sure how iplementable, and useful this would be.
but regarding distance, i believe 6 is too short. 6 hours on foot can be marched in less than 3 hours by cavalry. demonic proved how an overpowered player CAN kill whole villages with just cavalry ![]()

I like the general idea but I think there should still be away to attack someone on the other side of the map. Maybe portals can have levels like other spells, the higher the level the farther they can go, the distance can be based on the size of the map too, that way the only way to reach everywhere is to have have giant wizard towers with level bajillion portal spells. People won't use them but at least if a clan gets big and bored enough they can get to another clan that is big and bored aswell.

But on another topic, there's a lot of things that could be changed, the troops need to be balanced more (witches are uselles, gual overpowered, weapons give the stronger players more power.
That would also make army's existing of gual useless as well, hence the speed would be taken away... perhaps combine them with other portals (longer distances?)
But there's a lot of things that need changing, i don't see the developer inhere asking us for improvements, giving us feedback or doing anything about the game other then the very most needed bug fixxes so why have another topic hijack with improvements?

Why would you limit wars and battles in a war game?
Because one clan shouldn't be able to run the game like it can right now.

I agree, players and mods have showed they care, it's time for the devs to show they care and are working on this.
i like the portal upgrade thing. it can be a clan thing. the whole clan need to work together, maybe pay runes to it to upgrade their clan's portal ability. only clan leader and captains can then open a portal from clan page. the higher the portal, the further the distance they can go to, etc...

Maybe there can be a portal building, like a stargate. When you activate it, it will open a portal to a random player in it's range, opening it can cost stone, food, money, gems, etc etc.

If the problem is the cavalry time shouldn't you look at the cavalry time instead of slowing the whole game down?

I was told that the troop types worked like rock paper scizzors back when I played on stable, did that change? Or was it just wrong? Maybe that's the way it should be set up.

I don't agree with a reset, nothing would change. The same thing would happen again. It's some peoples attitudes to the game that could do with changing. All I see is the same old crying and whining.
I disagree that the same thing would happen again. It may, but it's not guaranteed. That's like saying for example, that a team like the NFL Cowboys get beat by say, the Patriots, and then say, "we don't want to play other teams because they will just do the same thing the Patriots did to us.
There's just waaaay too many variables for that statement to be true.
It would be a lot more challenging if the rock, paper, scissors analogy were actually true.
The reasons I want a reset are,
1. there IS a winner
2. there is 1 huge clan, because of the size of the winner
3. there is 1 medium sized clan that can't compete realistically with either.
4. there is hardly anybody else left. There are, but you know what i mean.
