Topic: Players Being Farmed

Attacking is a very important part of the game, you shouldn't take it so personally. There are many safeguards to help beginning players get on their feet and ensure they don't go down that lonely road of becoming someones farm. First of all you have the beginners protection, where you cannot lose runes when you're too small, and this should provide adequate time for any active player to at least build few troops to help against similar sized players. There is also the honour system, and rune limits.

Secondly you should build troops as soon as you can to deter raiders. Last but certainly not least, the game allows players to form clans, and a good clan will help its members by reinforcing them when they are being attacked. However these safeguards won't always be effective, especially if you join a server late, or are unlucky enough to land your village in a place surrounded by much larger players.

This is a situation where you should reset and start over, hoping your next attempt will land you in an area occupied only by newer players much like yourself. I think most all players have experienced what you are going through at one time or another, and believe me I know it's not fun.

But before you quit the game entirely and leave with a sour taste in your mouth, I think you should reset and start a new village where only lower population players will be around you. Perhaps this time you will be the attacker and not the attacked! Trust me the game is much more entertaining in this position, and the further along it progresses the more exciting it becomes! Good luck and have fun!

just that guy... remember him? didn't expect you to...

Then all you have to worry about is the Travel Agents paying to move an entire clan of veteran power players near your up and coming village to machine it to the ground. Its all about having fun here. Cheers smile

good hunting

Re: Players Being Farmed

Before you leave the game after being attacked, try a few things:

1) Most players will be decent enough to give you some breathing room if you ask nicely.*

2) Join a "good" clan.  This may not be a large clan... it may be people just like you who are starting out.  Look at the activity levels of the players in the clan that you are interested in joining.  The better clans have someone online almost all the time.

3) Watch what you say in chat.  Nothing can get you attacked faster than acting like an idiot.  Before this game had moderators, the players would simply band together and obliterate the offending village(s).**

4) Secure your economic base.  Have a group of players that you can trade with.  It may not be possible to trade with your clan members due to size differences.  This makes friends in the game even more important.

5) Troops & defense towers are good, but do not fall victim to a siege or auxiliary support mentality.

Towers add a health bonus to your troops.  There is an odd balancing act that you have to do when you are a new player (or one who has been farmed into oblivion)... you have to balance economic production (farms, iron, etc) against defense (towers, reserve troops, etc) while also balancing against expeditionary endeavors (shock troops, farming troops, etc).  More troops give you greater flexibility early on.  Balancing what you spend on troops vs what you spend on rune scouting is a tricky proposition early on.  I'm not aware of anyone who is 100% sure that they have found the best method or the best resource distribution.

6) Seek help.  Speak up in chat... politely.  Most people (not just the mods) are only too happy to help a newcomer.***

7) Relax... it's a war game.  You are going to get attacked... often.  It's not personal (unless you make it so) nor is it being mean... this is war, and war is a very bloody thing indeed.

8) Never let an attack go unpunished... but be wary of attacking people who are more than 50% bigger than you (on stable anyway) as when they attack you back (again), it can be very messy.  Bide your time... you are growing at a rate faster than they are (those horrible build times get worse as you get bigger).  It may not seem it now, but you will be in a position to fight with them soon enough.

9) Try to have fun.  It's a game smile

*Does not generally apply to multies or even suspected multies.
**This still happens smile
***Don't ask for runes... you will not like what happens next.

7 x 13 = 28

Economics today is a race between economists striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof economic or financial models or programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning...
