Topic: 2 suggestions

First is about weapons. There are a bunch of melle type of weapons but only one for archers. I think we desperatly need one more, like Bow, craftable from Weaponsmith level 4 or 5. Curently archers(at least the Human ones) are very week, with a new weapon that gives nice bonuses this could be changed a bit. What those bonuses would be, is up for debate and testing, but my guess would be more damage to ranged attack(dooh) like maybe +12 and a bit of defence maybe against cavalry or infantry(upgradable like the rest of the weapons ofcourse).
Second suggestion would be a new troop type, a magician(or call it something else) trainable from wizzard towers ofcourse. The spell-system should still be kept as it is with wizzards casting spells you have available in your village. Magicians would attack with staffs and wands (theese two could be new weapons craftable from weapon smith). The magicians would attack as rangers do, in the second round of a battle, but do magic damage.

then i'd rather say we create a better version of archers/witches... like gual/executioner/knight/longswordsmen... many players on speed are wondering already since the introduction of the previous 'new units' what the improved witch/archer would be.

better archers is an overkill, humans would jump straight into being much stronger than guals.
*reminisce on the days of watching 600 archers mowing down complete regiments*

but a better sling is defintly a good idea.
rusty sling lvl 1 gives +8 ranged attack, costs 50 wood and 2 gems.

following the pattern of other weapons, we can have bodkin arrow, +15 ranged on lvl 1, and costs 200 wood and 8 gems. then have a longbow, +22 ranged on lvl 1, costing 400 wood and 16 gems.

right now, archers are pretty much useless, very cheap, very weak. the only reason i can see for them be used, is someone running out of resources and just wants more troops to avoid a massacre... i personally prefer using those wind runes in barracks and getting longswords instead. hell, if i run out of resources, i can always get a bunch of spearmen.

I'm not saying archers should be overpowered. Why does everything has to be black or white?. Just make them worth using. Its not correct to have a 150 archers and they can BARELY kill a single unit of executioners. Something is wrong there.

I'm thinking the same thing as Lakers.  As it stands, archers aren't really doing anything.  I have a couple of regiments of 1K archers on stable... that many guys should blow a massive hole in a battle line.  They just can't do that on speed.   They can't come close.

I think that slings should be 2X as powerful as they currently are in base form.  And that there needs to be a "human only" archery weapon somewhere around level 5-6 that is 7-8 points stronger than the base sling.

Witches suck big time on speed.
They always have, just as archers, speed will evolve into a server with a mix of cavalry and elite footmen.
On speed V1 most runes were harvested with nothing but gual army's once everybody got their outpost.

Anyways, the witches are the most expensive units and are weaker then an elite foot soldier, even with good armour and weapons they still suck and don't have any advantage at all.

Your village is 38100% bigger than the defending village. You will probably lose 90 honour by attacking this village. If someone of your clan attacked this village earlier, every clan member will lose honour.

Sure did, do the witches use magic attack then?
On prev. speed the witches really could not keep up with the exe and gual.
Has there been some update?

Yay I found my forum password again!

And how about a branch of weps. So it is easier to classify. Archers get destroyed in melee. So how about equiping them with a branch of melle weps and a bow. But still keeping it fair. Like an archer can be equip with a dagger and a sling. This is applies to human archers but can be modified for witches.


I do urge for archers to reign a hail of arrows upon the battlefield once every 5 turns. Its unrealistic for them only to hit once in the battle.  The period of arrow fire can become longer in the battle.1/3 in the beginging. After 10 turns 1/4. 20 1/5. 30 1/6. And so on. This can be affected by which archers ar in battle and which regs arent.

When you upgrade this item, you will only be able to craft the upgraded version. Your current equipment will not be affected by this upgrade.

I think both of the units are weak, but one of the big issues I see with archers are battle slots.  Those that were here when there was a fixed 7 slot battle field archers were very powerful.  They ALWAYS hit their targets.  Then more slots were added and archers now have a good chance of missing targets.

The next thing that happened to archers was that the HP of most units went up, and their ranged stayed the same.  If the ranged attack is scaled up as the HP was... things would be a little better.

Ideally I would like to archers be able to 'aim' at other slots but take a penalty, and have their ranged attack brought up.

Witches on the other hand... from a cost/effect point they are very weak.

And how in the world do you sharpen a sling?

That's a morning star ball.  I think that it would puncture the material of the sling... letting you just swing a heavy, pointy ball around rather than throwing it.
